distortion and forced perspective ease the viewer into a more intimate
relationship with the space and the subject.
big wet washes of blended colour are hallmarks of this work. the rough
handmade watercolour paper invites this approach however i am
intrigued by the texture created by defined spaces so i contrasted these wash areas
with delicate leaf shapes and lattice work.
as in many garden designs, the complex organic play of leaves is gradually
tamed by the woven lattice and then the geometric starkness of the window frame.
