desiccated orchid II

desiccated orchid II, 04/2014, 11x15, transparent watercolour on 140lb arches watercolour paper.

this image, feels like a clear relative to the desiccated orchid I painting. I especially enjoy the more elaborate composition of the elements.

the mineral element now works as a frame for the dried organics and its hand made production allowed me to distort the edges further than the potter's drying process would have done. the top right edge of the platter disappears altogether to allow the last dried blossoms to escape. fun.
