bittersweet

South-End Swing I

bittersweet, 11/2013, 30x22, transparent watercolour on 140lb r.w.s. watercolour paper

this sparsely painted image reminds me of the creative process. the bottom edge is filled with raw material snd a hint of books, and then on top of the crate sit tools and a creative assemblage of branches in decorative containers. finally the lines of the bittersweet cuttings guide the eye across to hints of a painting with cloudlike elements.

the concept seems so intentional but the countless small decisions that were part of the process hid the overall form until much later or maybe this was a delightful experiment in conveying textures as i first imagined.
